Al-Wasl Club announced the appointment of Eric Abidal, the former star of the French national team and Barcelona, as the sporting director, as part of the “Emperor’s” efforts to strengthen its administrative structure. According to the club’s statement, Abidal will be responsible for sports planning and management, developing youth categories and the football academy, and coordinating with the board of directors to attract local and international sports talents.
Abidal (45 years old) is considered one of the players who left a significant mark in their sports career, especially with Barcelona, with whom he won four La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions League titles, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
