● New “Now Playing” feature enables users to share what they’re listening to directly through Spotify
Dubai, UAE – July 31, 2026: Snapchat has introduced Now Playing on Snap Map, giving users a new way to share the music they’re listening to with friends. With more than 450 million monthly users, Snap Map continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most popular mobile maps, while the new feature adds another layer of personal expression and social discovery.
The feature initially supports Spotify, allowing Snapchatters to connect their Spotify accounts, choose who can see what they’re listening to, and discover music through the friends they interact with every day. Users can also save tracks directly to Spotify from Snap Map, Spotlight, and Sound Pages.

Now Playing brings a new dimension to music discovery and self-expression on Snap Map, allowing Snapchatters to share the soundtrack of their day while discovering new music through people they already know.”
How the Feature Works
Available within Snap Map, Now Playing allows Snapchatters to instantly see the songs their friends are listening to. Users can tap on any track to explore Spotlight videos featuring the same audio, open the song directly in Spotify, or save it to their Liked Songs playlist.
In addition, users can save songs directly to Spotify from both Spotlight videos and Sound Pages, making it easier than ever to discover and revisit new music.
Connecting a Spotify Account
Linking a Spotify account is simple and can be done through multiple entry points, including Snap Map, Sounds, Friends’ Profiles, or Settings.
Once connected, Snapchatters can choose who is able to view their Now Playing status through the following privacy options:
- Friends: Share listening activity with all Snapchat friends.
- Map Friends: Share listening activity only with friends who already have access to the user’s location on Snap Map.
- Selected Friends: Share listening activity with specific friends only.
- No One: Keep listening activity private.
The Now Playing feature is now available in all markets where both Spotify and Snapchat are available. The feature will be rolling out in Canada soon.
