Sharjah won the UAE Basketball League title after its thrilling victory over shabab al ahli in the final match 84-74, on Wednesday, at the Sharjah Sports Club hall in Dasman.
Sharjah was crowned after winning by a margin of 10 points, having previously lost the first leg by a margin of 7 points with a score of 86-79.
The crowning of “The King” came for the first time since the 2019-2020 season, ending the dominance of “The Knights,” who had won the title in the last four years.
The match was attended and the champion and runner-up were crowned by Major General (Ret.) Ismail Al-Qarqawi, President of the UAE and Arab Basketball Federations, Issa Hilal, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Khalid Issa Al-Madfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Club Board of Directors, and Abdul Latif Al-Fardan, Vice President of the Basketball Federation.
Shabab al ahli entered the match at the top of the standings with a perfect score of 10 points from 5 rounds, with two chances to clinch the title: winning or losing by less than 7 points. Meanwhile, “Al-Malik” entered second with 9 points, with only the chance to win by more than 7 points, which they achieved.
For its part, Al Nasr secured third place in the men’s basketball league with 8 points after defeating Al Bataeh 78-74 in the match held on Wednesday at the Sharjah Club hall during the sixth and final round of the phase.
