The Sharjah Club team was crowned the champion of the Men’s Federation Cup for the third time in its history after defeating Al Ahli Youth 108-106 in the final match held at the Sharjah Club hall. The winning team was honored by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and Brigadier General Eng. Ismail Al Qargawi, President of the UAE and Arab Basketball Federations, Abdul Latif Al Fardan, Vice President of the Basketball Federation, and His Excellency Khaled Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Sports Club. The King delivered a fantastic match that reached the peak of competitiveness and excitement, excelling in the first and fourth quarters with scores of 23-19 and 29-19, while the “Knights” had the advantage in the second and third quarters with scores of 19-14 and 35-26. However, the home team settled the situation in overtime after the original time ended in a tie at 92-92.

Brigadier General (Retired) Ismail Al-Qarqawi, President of the UAE Basketball Federation, congratulated the Sharjah Club, including its management, coaching staff, and players, on winning the title. He praised the technical level of the match, which saw back-and-forth exchanges between the two great teams and was decided only after extra time. Khalid Issa Al-Madfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Club Board of Directors, dedicated the achievement to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and the Deputy Rulers, affirming that the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah were the driving force behind winning the Federation Cup in basketball, which is considered the most beautiful gift from his children at the club for their continuous support.

Al-Madfa added: “We congratulate the technical and administrative staff and the players on the victory and the championship. The match was wonderful and befitting the level of the two best teams in the league. The title is the beginning of future achievements, and we promise better in the upcoming period.”

Isa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, said: “This victory is a modest gift to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. It is a response to His Highness’s support and follow-up. When he received the Asian handball champion team, he said, ‘Basketball is used to achievements,’ and his words were a guiding direction that led to this achievement, which is considered the beginning and return of the team to competitions, with the next goal being Asian.”
