Dubai – Reflecting a renewed spirit of trust and development, H.E. Abdul Latif Nasser Al-Fardan, Chairman of the UAE Basketball Federation, officially inaugurated the Referees’ Activation Workshop in preparation for the upcoming sports season. The event was held at the National Olympic Committee headquarters, bringing together key figures from the refereeing and legal committees.
In his opening remarks, Al-Fardan emphasized the pivotal role referees play in the success of competitions, reaffirming his confidence in their competence and their ability to lead a season marked by excitement, fairness, and professionalism. He also extended his congratulations to international commissioner Hussein Al-Balooshi on the renewal of his accreditation, commending his ongoing efforts to elevate the refereeing system. Additionally, he congratulated Ali Al-Bannai and Hamza Abbas on the renewal of their international badges—an achievement that underscores the distinguished status of Emirati officiating on the global stage.
The workshop witnessed the presence of prominent members of the Referees and Legal Committee, led by Chairman Mohammed Saleh Al-Ali, alongside members Yaqoub Ghabesh, Hussein Al-Balooshi, and Mahmoud Rashad. Discussions focused on key challenges and technical preparations for the new season, with a shared commitment to continuous updates in refereeing mechanisms and training protocols.
More than a routine meeting, the workshop served as a dynamic platform to recharge energies and reaffirm that the Emirati referee’s whistle will remain loud, precise, and just. It marks the beginning of a season that promises not only fierce competition, but also excellence and professionalism in every detail.
