Dubai Basketball launched its ABA Liga quarterfinal campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising past Spartak 102–74 in Game 1 of the series to take a 1–0 lead and move a step closer to securing a spot in the semifinals. The matchup, held at the Zetra Olympic Hall, showcased the Emirati club’s depth, discipline, and superior execution on both ends of the floor.
Dubai set the tone from the opening minutes, imposing its rhythm offensively and defensively. The team closed the first quarter ahead 31–22, fueled by fast-paced offense, quick transitions, and accurate perimeter shooting.
The momentum continued into the second quarter, as Dubai maintained full control through strong defensive pressure and seamless chemistry among its players. The hosts entered halftime leading 54–41, having dominated the boards and effectively neutralized Spartak’s main threats.
The third quarter saw Dubai elevate its intensity even further. The talent and physical advantage became increasingly evident as the team outscored Spartak 30–18, stretching the lead beyond 20 points and effectively sealing the contest.
In the final quarter, Dubai maintained its composure and defensive focus, closing out the game with authority and sending a clear message to the rest of the playoff field with a commanding 28‑point victory.
Bosnian star Dzanan Musa delivered a standout performance, scoring 31 points in a brilliant offensive display. Mfiondu Kabengele added 16 points, while Klemen Prepelic, Caminas, and Bruno Caboclo all made impactful contributions on both ends of the court—further highlighting the team’s impressive roster depth.
Following the game, head coach Aleksander Sekulić emphasized the importance of starting the playoffs strongly. He noted that despite the long break before the series, the team remained focused and respectful of Spartak, a side he described as strong but unlucky throughout the season. Sekulić stressed that while the win is valuable, the job is far from finished, with full attention now shifting to Game 2.
Kabengele echoed his coach’s sentiments, expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance. He highlighted the significance of the preparation period, during which the coaching staff prioritized defensive structure and rebounding—key areas that proved decisive in the victory. He added that with opponents increasingly familiar with Dubai’s style, executing fundamentals at a high level has become essential.
With this win, Dubai Basketball takes a 1–0 lead in the quarterfinal series and will look to edge even closer to a semifinal berth in the upcoming second matchup.
